An UptimeRobot alternative with deeper cron monitoring
UptimeRobot is one of the most widely used uptime monitors, with a large free plan and a long list of integrations. People start looking around when their scheduled jobs matter as much as their websites, or when they need more monitors and seats than the price allows. Pingstack Team is $29 a month for 250 checks and 5 seats.
Pingstack in one paragraph
Pingstack monitors cron jobs and scheduled tasks with heartbeat checks, plus websites, SSL certificates, domain expiry, DNS records and TCP ports, in one dashboard. Alerts go to notification groups with rosters, and any dashboard can be a branded public status page. An MCP server lets Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor and Codex set up checks.

What UptimeRobot does well
UptimeRobot has been watching websites for over a decade, and it covers more kinds of uptime check than Pingstack does: keyword checks, ping, UDP and API checks. For hobby projects, its free plan is one of the most generous out there. It connects to a long list of alert tools, including PagerDuty, Zapier and Telegram, and its higher plans check every 15 seconds.
Pick UptimeRobot if
- You need many simple uptime monitors for a hobby or non-profit project at no cost
- You need keyword, ping or UDP checks
- You need 15-second intervals or an alert channel Pingstack doesn’t have yet
Pick Pingstack if
- Your scheduled jobs matter as much as your websites, and you want cron schedules, time zones and value thresholds on them
- You want SSL and domain expiry checks without moving to a paid plan
- You want more checks and seats for the price: 250 checks and 5 seats for $29
