Pingstack FAQ

Each check has a unique ping URL. Your job calls it when it finishes. If that call doesn't show up within the schedule (an interval or a cron expression) plus a grace period, Pingstack opens an incident and alerts your notification group. Keep your ping URLs secret.

Heartbeats wait for your code to call Pingstack. Website checks request your URL from Pingstack's probe regions and compare the response with the status code you expect.

Heartbeats can, since they only need outbound HTTPS. Website and TCP checks can only reach public addresses.

A check is degraded when some probe regions fail or a value or expiry date crosses its warning threshold, and failing when it crosses the critical one. You set both thresholds.

Yes. A roster sets who's on duty by day and hour.

We watch our own probe regions. If one is unhealthy, we hold back alerts that come from it, so you don't get paged for our problem.

No. When it hits a plan limit, it hands back an upgrade link for a person to open.

Pingstack covers cron jobs, websites, SSL, domains, DNS and TCP in one tool, with branded status pages and an MCP server, and Pro is $12 a month for 50 checks. If you only need to watch jobs, a cron-only monitor is a fine choice. Our comparisons go through when each tool fits.

API keys and agent sign-ins are tied to your account and scoped. They expire after 90 days by default, and you can revoke them anytime. Treat ping URLs like passwords.
